The SIP Open architecture allows Communicator to handle custom SIP messages and events which might be required by certain Manufactures.
The clients feature-rich desktop application allows residential users and businesses to utilize the client as a primary or secondary phone device for their IP communications services.
Understanding the need for Customized Services such as Server based Call Logs, Contacts and Authentication, Communicator has adopted API based Plug-in architecture which would allow quick and robust integration with all most any platform and meet the demands to Services Providers. Custom Licensing and Authentication scheme allows single sign-in process as well. Full SIP and User Information can be dynamically provisioned using Server’s Custom services or using standard CPE style provisioning or over the air provisioning.
As an integrated device with the PBX/softswitch platform, customers are able to auto provision the client, provide automatic updates, and version management seamlessly. A key benefit of integration for users is the central storage of contacts, eliminating the need to duplicate contact lists. Plug-in could be developed to retrieve Contacts from several source such as PBX System, Enterprise LDAP etc.
Advanced Services such as Video Add-on which enables separation of Voice and Video Streaming allowing receiving calls on IP Phone and Video on desktop based Communicator. Shared Call Appearances allow sharing Single line among several Phones.
With integrated Update Management, Communicator allows seamless auto update process.

API Integration
Plug-in Architecture with 3rd party API allows Communicator to have
- Fully separate User Interface with Skinning Support. This allows fully branded Communication. Fully branding or Co-branding is supported.
- API Based Interface to integrate Custom Authentication Scheme. This can be used to get User Id and password and do custom Authentication with Service Provider’s Authentication or Licensing Servers. Licensing can be used to enable or disable certain features in Communicator. Thus Service providers can provision services on Communicator depending on Licenses that user has.
- API to interface with Service Provider’s own CDS Server to present custom Server based Call Logs.
- API to interface with Service Provider’s or Enterprise’s own Directory Server to present Custom Contacts List.

Deployment Toolkit
This product is used by Service provider to Customize communicator product lines. Service provider can use Deployment Toolkit to bundle and create redistributable Communicator with Default Settings and behaviors as well as do Branding.
Deployment Toolkit allows full Patch management and Distribution management. This tool can be used to Upload Patches
Communicator is released to Service provider as “Communicator Service Provider’s Bundle”. Deployment toolkit can manage these Releases. Service provider can create Enterprise and Groups with in Enterprise to create Different set of Configuration and preferences for Communicator which they can use to Create distributable Communicator installers.
